MarieBelle Cacao Bar and Tea Salon
Monday, October 1, 2012

MarieBelle is my go-to place for hot chocolate. It's so good and it reminds me a bit of the hot chocolate at Angelina's in Paris. In this charming little chocolate shop on Broome Street lies a lovely cacao bar and tea salon. Once you walk inside, go straight through the shop to the back. The cafe is usually pretty quiet so getting a table is never a problem. The service is always friendly.
On this visit, I ordered tea ($6), which is served on a silver tray. I loved the delicate look and touch of both the tea strainer and the teacup. The tea, from Harney & Sons, is served loose leaf in a small pot. Any visit should definitely include their homemade sweets. I ordered the alfajor ($2.50), which is dulce de leche sandwiched between two shortbread cookies, and a small meringue ($2.50). Both, excellent. Oh, and it you're lucky, get a palmier, if they have them available. (This was unfortunately not included in my Best of Three: Palmiers since they didn't have it both times I went to pick some up at that time.)
