Tea Break

TEA: Iced Matcha Tea Latte
SWEET: Canele

In my previous post, I mentioned making tea lattes as a barista at Amai. The manager from Amai, Queenie, is now at Laughing Man, a cute little coffee shop in Tribeca and she makes THE BEST lattes. I stopped by and she made me an iced matcha soy latte with steamed soy milk. Exactly the way I like it. DELICIOUS.

I paired that with a canele they only get on Wednesdays. They usually sell out of them by Saturday. Crusty and crunchy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside, caneles are my new favorite pastry. I also like the caneles at Epicerie Boulud and Balthazar Bakery.

UPDATE: The caneles are made by SocialEats and you can buy them online on Etsy.

Those caneles are made by SocialEats. You can get them at Laughing Man on Wednesdays, or you can order them by the dozen at!

Hi Ben @ SocialEats,

When Laughing Man first started getting your caneles, Queenie raved about them and I have to agree, they are SO SO GOOD! Good to know you can get them by the dozen!

I LOVED Amai and was so sad when they closed. I'm so glad to hear their staff has ended up elsewhere in the city. Thanks for the tip!

Hi Rebecca,

Actually, Queenie from Amai is no longer at Laughing Man. Her last day was about a week ago. She left to start her own project/company!
