Review: Sarabeth's Tribeca

I recently went to brunch at Sarabeth's Tribeca and discovered they also serve afternoon tea for just $19. I didn't have high expectations since it was under $20 but I was pleasantly surprised by the quality. 

SETTING: 
Sarabeth's Tribeca is airy, open and bright. It's lovely inside with white walls and minimal decor. It's huge compared to most restaurants in New York with three separate dining areas. Since I went at 3:30 on a weekday, the place was fairly empty. It felt like my friend and I were the only customers there since no one else was sitting in our dining area.

SERVICE: 
Great service. The staff was very nice and attentive.

TEA & TEA SELECTION: 
Only giving it 2 teacups since they had a limited Harney & Sons tea selection and the tea came in tea bags. However, since the tea service was only $19, I wasn't surprised by it.

SWEETS: 
Savories, scone and sweets came out after after the tea on a three-tiered tray. Savories at the top, sweets below that, and a scone with butter and jam at the bottom. Yes, butter, not the traditional clotted cream. I started with the savories and they were AMAZING! I was so surprised by how delicious each one was. So much thought went into the combination of flavors and in the selection. The best savory was the lobster and tarragon salad on an endive. Simply delicious. Check out their menu for the entire selection of savories. 

The currant scone was a mini sized one, and it wasn't the crumbly type. I'm not sure if they were not served warm or if it had cooled down by the time I started eating it. It was tasty, but I missed the clotted cream.

Sweets consisted of a variety of cookies. All very good and tastier than expected just looking at them. 

OVERALL:
Would I go back for afternoon tea at Sarabeth's Tribeca? Definitely. The reasonably priced $19 is worth it just for the savories alone.
