If you’re following me on Instagram or Twitter, you already know about my matcha shaved ice “problem.” Two a day, every day, since the shaved ice machine arrived. Highly addictive, and easy to make, I can’t get enough. I use the Electric Shaved Ice Machine by Hawaiian Shaved Ice and for best results, after freezing the matcha, let it sit out for about 5-7 minutes before shaving.

I use cold tap water and the whisk to make sure the matcha was fully dissolved in the water. Using cold, or room temperature water yields a brighter matcha green color.

Makes 2 servings

2 cups water
2 teaspoons matcha (I used The Republicof Tea, U Matcha Natural.)
1/2 cup milk (I used soy milk.)
2 tablespoons red bean paste
2 tablespoons condensed milk

1. Whisk together matcha & water in a bowl. Freeze overnight in shaved ice machine molds.
2. Divide milk into two bowls & shave ice over the milk.
3. Add a tablespoon of red bean paste & drizzle condensed milk to each bowl. Enjoy!

//Props used: Weck jars from Crate & Barrel, Whisk from Ikea (similar), wooden bowls and white bowl from Muji. Matcha c/o The Republic of Tea, shaved ice machine c/o Hawaiian Shaved Ice.//
