Recipe Highlights

  • Peach syrup is a peach flavored simple syrup made with fresh peaches, sugar, and water. It’s easy to make at home on the stovetop.
  • Use homemade peach syrup to flavor and sweeten hot and iced tea. Always use simple syrup in iced teas since it stirs easily into a cold drink, unlike sugar which will just sink down to the bottom of the cup.
  • The recipe makes a cup of syrup, which can be kept in an airtight container in the refrigerator for a week.
  • This recipe doesn’t use as much sugar as regular simple syrup since peaches are naturally sweet but taste just as good!

Ingredient Notes

Peach syrup ingredients.
  • Peaches: Fresh peaches are ideal but frozen peaches can be used, but they never seem as sweet as the fresh.
  • Sugar: Any kind of sugar can be used but regular white sugar was used to make this peach syrup. The finer the sugar, the quicker it’ll dissolve into the water on the stovetop so it’ll take longer if you’re using turbinado sugar.
  • Water: Use filtered water for a better quality syrup.

Questions You May Have

What’s the best way to strain the peach syrup?

Place a mesh strainer on top of a container and pour the sweetened peach puree into the strainer. You may need to use a spoon to move the puree around the mesh strainer if it gets clogged.

Do I need to blend the peaches first?

Instead of blending the peaches in a mini blender, cut them into small pieces and mash them in the saucepan. Cook on the stovetop 10 minutes longer than stated on the recipe. I puree the peaches to shorten the cooking time on the stove.

Can I use frozen peaches?

You can, but fresh peaches are easier to work with and are more flavorful than frozen.
