- ¾ cup water
- ¾ cup sugar
- 1 3 inch fresh ginger root (sliced)
- Fresh ginger can be found in the produce section of a supermarket. Slicing fresh ginger root into thin pieces adds the strongest flavor to the syrup.
- Instead of slicing fresh ginger, it can be grated for an even more potent ginger flavor. However, it goes take more work since a mesh strainer will be needed to filter the small ginger bits.
- This recipe makes 1 cup of ginger syrup. That's enough to sweeten 8 drinks if you use 2 tablespoons for each glass.
- Store in an airtight container and this syrup will keep for up to 2 weeks in the fridge.
- Ginger syrup can also be frozen for up to 3 months. Simply pour into an ice cube tray and pop them out whenever you need it.
Syrup Uses
