- Any black tea can be used, such as English Breakfast tea. The black tea is made with a tea bag but a tea sachet can also be used. Don't use Earl Grey tea, which has a citrus flavor.
- Use only food-safe dried lavender. The dried lavender you find at flower shops is full of pesticides and not meant for eating. Make sure to purchase food-safe dried lavender buds.
- Don’t oversteep the tea. Set a timer and brew the tea for no more than 5 minutes. The longer you steep black tea, the more astringent and bitter it'll get.
- Tea bags or sachets make for quick and easy cleanup but you can also use loose tea. Use 1 ½ teaspoons of black loose tea instead of a tea bag.
- Using an electric kettle with a temperature setting is the best way to get an accurate temperature for making tea. Not all tea should be made using the same water temperature.
- Iced lavender black tea can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
- A little goes a long way with lavender. Using too much dried lavender can overpower your drink.
- Make the drink decadent by topping it with lavender cold foam.
