Ingredients

Instructions

  • Put all ingredients in a saucepan and simmer.
Simmer until the sugar has completely dissolved. Stir occasionally.
  • Take off heat and steep for 15 minutes, covered. Turn off heat and let cool.
  • Strain and pour syrup into an airtight container.
The syrup will keep for up to 2 weeks in the refrigerator.

Notes

  • Instead of loose mint tea, you can use peppermint tea bags. Make sure the tea bags only contain peppermint. Replace the 3 tablespoons of loose tea with 4 peppermint tea bags or 2 tea sachets.
  • The longer the mint tea steeps in the saucepan with the sugar and water, the stronger the mint taste will be.
  • Use a strainer and a funnel to easily strain the mint leaves.
  • To sweeten and flavor your drink, add 1-2 tablespoons of mint syrup into a cup of coffee or tea.
