Ingredients

  • 3 tea bags chai
  • ¼ cup hot water
  • ½ cup milk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 ½ cups vanilla ice cream

Instructions

  • Make chai tea concentrate.
Steep chai tea in hot water for 5 minutes, then discard the teabags.
  • Add the ingredients to the blender.
Put chai tea, cold milk, vanilla extract, and ice cream into the blender in the order listed.
  • Blend until smooth.
Turn on the blender on LOW speed for 10 seconds. Quickly increase the speed to HIGH for 30 seconds.
  • Pour the milkshake into the glass. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • If you want a stronger chai flavor, add another tea bag into the hot water to steep. For a milder flavor, use only 2 tea bags.
  • Always put liquids into the blender first. The heaviest ingredient should go in last, which in this recipe is the ice cream.
  • Let the ice cream soften first to make it easier to scoop.
  • Add extra ice cream if you want a thicker milkshake.
  • To make the milkshake thinner, add a small amount of extra milk then blend for 10 seconds.
  • Garnish with ground cinnamon or whipped cream to make it extra rich.
  • Chai is black tea with spices, and each company that makes it, has their own blend. This means no 2 chai blends will taste exactly the same so you may need to try a few to figure out which company makes the blend you like the best.
