Ingredients

Instructions

  • Put tea sachets and ½ cup of hot water into a teapot.
Boil water on the stovetop or use an electric kettle with a temperature setting. Set water temperature to 195°F.
  • Cover and steep for 5 minutes.
Herbal teas like chamomile can be steeped for longer without getting bitter. The medicinal quality and flavor will deepen. For a stronger taste, steep for 10 - 15 minutes.
  • Discard tea sachets and add ½ cup of cold water. Place in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to cool.
  • Pour cooled down tea into a cup with ice.

Notes

  • The more intact the flowers, the higher the quality. Tea sachets have more intact flowers than chamomile in tea bags. I like using tea sachets since it's so much easier to clean up.
  • Unlike teas, which need to be steeped at a specific temperature for a set time, herbal tisanes like chamomile won't get bitter if they're left in hot water for a while. The flavor of the tea will deepen as it steeps.
  • You can also dissolve some honey or honey syrup into the tea as it steeps to make a honey chamomile iced tea.
  • Chamomile iced tea can be prepared in advance and stored in the refrigerator for up to 4 days in an airtight container.
  • Garnish with lemon slices or fresh mint to make this iced tea party ready.
