- Xanthan gum will prevent the lemonade and ice from separating. It's essential for getting a smooth Frappucino-like texture. You can make the drink without xanthan gum, but the ingredients will quickly separate.
- Air pockets will cause the blender to stop blending or create a drink that's not completely smooth. Prevent this by adding liquids first and ice, last.
- Move the ingredients around in the container with a blender tamper. This will ensure the ice is properly crushed and the ingredients are evenly blended.
- Garnish the drink with fresh lemon slices, strawberries, or fresh herbs like mint or basil.
- For the best flavor, use homemade lemonade. This will allow you to better control the sweetness. You can also use store-bought lemonade as a shortcut.
- Homemade strawberry syrup will taste best in this drink but you can use store-bought strawberry syrup or puree.
- Use smaller ice cubes if you have a low-powered blender. Make ice using filtered water if possible.
- Before using xanthan gum, check the expiration date on the package. Xanthan gum should be fresh in order to properly thicken drinks.
