- 2 hibiscus tea bags
- ½ cup cold water
- 1 cup ice
- ¼ cup strawberry syrup
Put hibiscus tea bags and ½ cup of hot water into a teapot.Boil water on the stovetop or use an electric kettle with a temperature setting. Set water temperature to 195°F. Cover and steep for 5 minutes. Discard tea bags.Hibiscus tea can be steeped for longer, which will give it a stronger flavor. Add ½ cup cold water.Chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. Pour iced tea into a cup with ice. Add strawberry syrup.Stir to combine.
- Tea bags or tea sachets are recommended here since they’re easy to discard. Loose hibiscus is higher quality because it contains bigger pieces but needs to be strained, which can get quite messy.
- To help the tea cool down quickly, avoid using boiling water and use slow boiled water instead.
- It’s important to purchase hibiscus that is meant for eating and hasn’t been treated with pesticides.
- Strawberry hibiscus iced tea can be prepared in advanced and stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
