- 1 ½ tablespoons Earl Grey tea (or 3 tea bags/sachets)
- ½ apple chopped
- 5 leaves fresh mint torn
- 3 cups water cold or room temperature
Put tea, chopped apple, torn fresh mint leaves, and cool or room temperature water in a pitcher or glass container.Use filtered water for a better tasting tea. Stir to make sure the tea leaves touch the water. Cover container and put in refrigerator for 12-24 hours. The tea, apple, and mint should not be left in the drink more than 24 hours. Strain out solids and pour tea into a cup.Since the drink is already chilled, ice is optional. The tea can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- I always recommend using filtered water for the best tasting tea.
- Use loose tea, tea sachets, or tea bags. I used loose tea but you can use whatever kind of Earl Grey tea you have.
- Thoroughly wash the apple and mint to remove dirt and bacteria. Rinse under cold running water and rub with your hands. Don’t use dish soap.
- Make sure you take it out all solids after 24 hours. Leaving any solids in the cold brew tea can accelerate bacterial growth.
- Fruit-infused cold brew is best when consumed in 3 days after straining the solids since there is increased risk of bacterial growth. From the day you put the cold brew tea and fruit into the refrigerator to the day you have your last sip, it should be 4 days total.
