- 4 tablespoons loose black tea (or 8 tea bags or sachets)
- 4 cups water cold or room temperature
Combine loose black tea with cold or room temperature water in a glass container.Any kind of black tea can be used. Cover and refrigerator for 24 hours. If steeping for less time, crush or muddle the tea leaves to break it into smaller bits. Use a strainer to remove all solids.Make sure to strain out the tea leaves no more than 24 hours cold brewing. Leaving any solids in the cold brew tea can speed bacterial growth.
- Cold brew tea concentrates are best when consumed within 4 days. There’s increased risk of bacterial growth since there aren’t any preservatives. From the day you put the cold brew tea concentrate into the refrigerator to the day you have your last sip, it should be 4 days total.
