Cold Brew Tea Concentrate

Cold brew tea concentrates are perfect when you don’t have a lot of refrigerator space. They’re meant to be diluted, so you’re making a strong tea where you can add water, ice, milk, or lemonade and still be able to taste the tea.

Note from Jee

This cold brew tea concentrate is a part of my cold brew tea series where I make a new cold brew every week in the summer.

Any tea can be made into a cold brew tea concentrate and my favorite teas to make into a concentrate are hojicha, English breakfast, and hibiscus.

Recipe Notes

Use loose tea, tea bags, or tea sachets.
I like using loose tea, but you can use tea bags or sachets.

Muddle the loose tea.
I like to cold brew tea concentrates for 24 hours, but if you don’t have as much time, muddle the tea leaves to break it up into smaller pieces so the oils an be released quicker.

Drink cold brew tea concentrates within 4 days.
Cold brew tea is best when consumed within 4 days. There’s increased risk of bacterial growth since there aren’t any preservatives. From the day you put the cold brew tea concentrate into the refrigerator to the day you have your last sip, it should be 4 days total.

Strain out solids after 24 hours.
Make sure to strain out the tea after 24 hours cold brewing. Leaving any solids in the cold brew tea can speed bacterial growth.

Make a decadent drink by topping it with cold foam.
Into a cup with ice, pour in the tea concentrate, then top with my 2-ingredient cold foam for a delicious drink.
