Ingredients

  • cup water
  • cup diced peaches
  • ¼ cup sugar

Instructions

  • Blend water and diced peaches in a blender.
Peaches are diced so it blends quickly and evenly to make peach puree.
⅔ cup diced peaches, ⅔ cup water
  • Heat peach puree and sugar on the stovetop.
    ¼ cup sugar
  • Strain and pour syrup into an airtight container.
Place a mesh strainer on top of a container and pour the sweetened peach puree into the strainer. You may need to use a spoon to move the puree around the mesh strainer if it gets clogged.
The syrup will keep for up to 1 week in the refrigerator.

Notes

  • The recipe makes a cup of peach syrup. Use 4 tablespoons of syrup to flavor and sweeten a cup of iced tea.
  • Instead of blending the peaches in a blender, you can chop them into small pieces and mash them in the saucepan. Cook on the stovetop 10 minutes longer. I puree the peaches to shorten the cooking time on the stove.
  • Fresh peaches are ideal but frozen peaches can be used.
  • Any kind of sugar can be used but I like regular white sugar since it's quicker to dissolve.
  • This simple syrup will keep for 1 week when stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
