Watermelon Lemonade
- 4 teaspoons sugar
- ¼ cup hot water
- ½ cup cold water
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- ⅔ cup seedless watermelon (chopped into small cubes)
- 1 cup ice
Make the simple syrup.Add sugar to hot water and stir until dissolved. Use filtered water, if possible. 4 teaspoons sugar, ¼ cup hot water
Blend simple syrup, cold water, lemon juice, and watermelon.Start the blender at LOW speed. Blend for 20 seconds. ½ cup cold water, 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice, ⅔ cup seedless watermelon
Strain the watermelon lemonade.Pour the watermelon lemonade through a mesh strainer to remove the solids. Pour the watermelon lemonade in a cup with ice.Optional: Garnish with lemon slices, watermelon cubes, or fresh mint. 1 cup ice
- Freshly squeezed lemon juice will have a brighter, better flavor. You can quickly squeeze lemons with a citrus juicer.
- Skip the simple syrup for a less sweet drink.
- The ice will melt and dilute the lemonade, so it enjoy it right away.
- To pick the best watermelon for this recipe, go for one that has a large yellow sunspot. The larger the yellow spot, the sweeter the watermelon.
- If you want to store the watermelon lemonade for later, keep it in the fridge without ice. Enjoy within 3 days and add ice just before drinking.
