Watermelon Lemonade

  • 4 teaspoons sugar
  • ¼ cup hot water
  • ½ cup cold water
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • cup seedless watermelon (chopped into small cubes)
  • 1 cup ice

Instructions

  • Make the simple syrup.
Add sugar to hot water and stir until dissolved. Use filtered water, if possible.
4 teaspoons sugar, ¼ cup hot water
  • Blend simple syrup, cold water, lemon juice, and watermelon.
Start the blender at LOW speed. Blend for 20 seconds.
½ cup cold water, 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice, ⅔ cup seedless watermelon
  • Strain the watermelon lemonade.
Pour the watermelon lemonade through a mesh strainer to remove the solids.
  • Pour the watermelon lemonade in a cup with ice.
Optional: Garnish with lemon slices, watermelon cubes, or fresh mint.
    1 cup ice

Notes

  • Freshly squeezed lemon juice will have a brighter, better flavor. You can quickly squeeze lemons with a citrus juicer.
  • Skip the simple syrup for a less sweet drink.
  • The ice will melt and dilute the lemonade, so it enjoy it right away.
  • To pick the best watermelon for this recipe, go for one that has a large yellow sunspot. The larger the yellow spot, the sweeter the watermelon.
  • If you want to store the watermelon lemonade for later, keep it in the fridge without ice. Enjoy within 3 days and add ice just before drinking.
