Ingredients

Instructions

  • Put tea bags and ¾ cup of hot water into a teapot.
Boil water on the stovetop or use an electric kettle with a temperature setting. Set water temperature to 175°F.
  • Cover and steep for 3 minutes. Discard tea bags.
Steeping for longer will make the tea bitter.
  • Let tea cool in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
  • Pour cooled down tea into a cup with ice. Add strawberry syrup.

Notes

  • Any green tea will work in this recipe.
  • You can also use loose green tea but it’ll be need to be strained after brewing. Use 1 tablespoon of loose green tea instead of 2 tea bags for each 16 ounce (2 cups) serving.
  • Homemade or store-bought strawberry syrup can be used.
  • It’s important to brew tea for the right amount of time and at the correct temperature. Don’t steep green tea for any longer than 3 minutes or it’ll become astringent and bitter.
  • Iced tea can be made in advance and stored in the fridge for up to 4 days.
  • Adjust the flavor to your liking. Start with ⅓ cup of strawberry syrup and add more if you prefer a sweeter iced tea.
  • To level up this iced tea, swap half of the strawberry syrup for another flavor, like peach or hibiscus.
  • Fresh herbs like mint or basil will brighten the strawberry iced tea. Muddle the leaves first to help release their flavor.
  • Top with strawberry cold foam to make a rich and creamy beverage.
