This 4-ingredient strawberry iced tea is perfectly sweet and refreshing. It’s so easy to make at home with green tea and homemade or store-bought strawberry syrup.

Homemade Strawberry Iced Tea
A refreshing and colorful drink, strawberry iced tea is perfect on a hot day and great to serve at parties.
To make the drink, I take green tea that’s brewed hot then cooled down. Strawberry syrup is added to sweeten and flavor. Ice keeps the drink icy cold.
Note from Jee

I initially made this drink using 1 tea bag but the light green tea flavor didn’t really come through as much as I would like so I remade it with 2, which was perfect.
For the strawberry syrup, homemade really is the best. If you have the time, try making it! My recipe uses just 3 ingredients (water, sugar, fresh strawberries).

Ingredient Notes

- Green tea: Any green tea will work in this recipe. Use tea bags or tea sachets for easy clean up. You can also use loose green tea but it’ll be need to be strained after brewing.
- Strawberry syrup: Store-bought or homemade strawberry syrup can be used. I recommend making your own since I find the store-bought ones can taste a little chemical-y or have a weird aftertaste.
- Water: I always use filtered water to make a better tasting iced tea.
- Ice: If possible, use filtered water to make ice.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Put tea bags and hot water into a teapot. Cover and steep.
Boil water on the stovetop or use an electric kettle with a temperature setting.

Step 2: Remove tea bags and let cool. You can make the tea ahead of time and chill in the refrigerator.

Step 3: Pour tea into a cup with ice.

Step 4: Add strawberry syrup.
Recipe Notes
Steep green tea for only 3 minutes.
Yup, only 3 minutes steep time. Steeping green tea for too long will definitely result in bitter tea, so turn on the timer on your phone.
Use tea bags, tea sachets, or loose tea.
Tea bags or tea sachets make for a mess-free cleanup but you can also use loose tea. Use 1 tablespoon of loose green tea instead of the 2 tea bags used in this recipe.
Use different teas.
Instead of green tea, you can use black tea, oolong tea, or white tea to make strawberry iced tea. If you want to make this drink caffeine-free, replace the green tea bag with chamomile tea or hibiscus tea.
