The famous Parisian cafe with the most decadent hot chocolate has a location near Bryant Park in New York City. I made a visit once I saw they had tea time on the menu.

Angelina Paris USA
On every visit to Paris, I make sure to stop by Angelina Paris for their famous hot chocolate so I was delighted when they opened up a location right by Bryant Park in New York City. They also have an Upper East Side location, which doesn’t offer teatime
I’ve been working on updating my list of places for afternoon tea in NYC and saw that the Bryant Park location has teatime on the menu, so of course I had to go and try it out.
There’s a take-out counter up front and table service in the back. The set up is a bit like Laduree in Soho but smaller and not as pretty.
Note from Jee

The afternoon tea at Angelina Paris is called ‘tea time’ on the menu since they don’t serve scones but the set up is exactly the same otherwise.
I’ve noticed that a lot of French places that serve afternoon tea do this, naming it ‘teatime’ and not serving scones.
That’s me in the photo looking over the menu.
Reservations
Angelina Paris doesn’t take reservations at all. They’re walk-in only.
Dress Code
It’s a laid-back cafe so there’s no dress code.
Afternoon Tea Hours
Afternoon tea is served every day and ALL DAY. The operating hours are Monday – Friday from 8AM – 8PM and on the weekends from 9AM – 7PM.
How Afternoon Tea Works at Angelina Paris in NYC
The afternoon tea is called ‘Teatime’ on the menu. You select your beverages only. You get all the food listed since it’s a set menu so you don’t pick and choose. (But let them know if you have any allergies.)
Select tea, coffee, or hot chocolate. They also have a juice selection, which is something I’ve never seen. You pick orange juice or grapefruit juice. The drinks will come out first, then they’ll bring out a 2-tiered stand with savories on the bottom and sweets on top.
The proper course order is to have the savories first, then the sweets.
Teatime Menu
Teatime
$49 per person
Select tea, coffee, or their famous hot chocolate, then you also pick a fruit juice of either orange or grapefruit. There are 5 savories and 4 sweets. You can get a glass of Champagne for an additional $26.
The menu and prices may change at any time.
Setting: ★★★☆☆

They tried to make it look like their Paris location, but since this is a newer space, it doesn’t feel as lived-in nor as grand. It has a bit of a museum cafe vibe and doesn’t really feel luxurious.
Service: ★★★★☆
Very friendly, but they just put the 2-tiered tray down on our table without describing any of the food.

For the fruit juices, here is one orange and one grapefruit.
Tea & Tea Selection: ★★★★☆

I was very tempted to get the hot chocolate since that’s what they’re known for AND it costs more than the tea or coffee so you get more for your buck, but I knew it would be way too rich so I got a pot of tea instead.
I got the Mont-Blanc tea and it was so good. It’s a black tea with flavor notes of candied chestnuts, biscuit, toffee, orange blossom, and apricot. I’m sure there is something in there to make it a little sweet but I enjoyed it nonetheless.
They serve loose tea and they put it into their own tea paper filters so there isn’t a need for a strainer. There were 11 teas on the menu with a mix of blends and single-origin.
Savories: ★★★☆☆

You get 5 savories per person. On the menu, they call them mini hors d’oeuvres.
There’s avocado toast, chicken club, truffle croque-monsieur (served warm), quinoa salad, and a salmon wafer. They were good, but nothing amazing. A couple of them were hard to eat, like the salmon wafer, which fell apart easily after the first bite.
Scones: N/A
With French places that call their afternoon teas ‘Teatime,’ they don’t have a scones course.
Sweets: ★★★☆☆
The sweets were VERY sweet. You get 4 sweets and one is a mini version of their most popular Mont-Blanc dessert. It was chocolate overload so everything tasted cloyingly sweet after the first couple of sweets. I don’t love the macarons here, texture-wise, but the flavor was fantastic.
Overall: ★★★☆☆
It’s not a bad for $49 per person but knowing that Fauchon nearby also serves teatime with way more food at $60 per person, I’ll probably head there first before coming back to Angelina Paris. (Although I would definitely come back to their hot chocolate!)
