Cold Brew Oolong Tea

Oolong tea is in between a black tea and green tea and it’s so good cold brewed. I usually like to cold brew oolong tea with stone fruits like peach and apricot, but tried it with watermelon and loved how well they went together.

You can use any oolong tea you like. I used Iron Goddess of Mercy (also called Tie Guan Yin).

Note from Jee

I’ve tested cold brew tea with watermelon a few times and the secret ingredient to making it go from ok to WOW is sugar or honey to sweeten the drink.

I don’t sweeten other cold brew teas, but with watermelon, it makes such a huge difference. For this recipe, I used honey but you can use the same amount of sugar.

My Cold Brew Tea Formula

This drink is made using my cold brew tea formula of tea + 1 fruit + 1 citrus + 1 herb. Oolong tea is my tea, Watermelon is my fruit, mandarin orange is my citrus, and basil is my herb. I added honey to sweeten.

Recipe Notes

Any sweetener can be used.
I made this with honey but you can use the same amount of sugar, date syrup, monk fruit, or maple syrup.

Use filtered water.
Better water means better tasting tea so I always use filtered water to make drinks.

Don’t leave the tea and fruits in the cold brew tea for more than 24 hours.
Make sure to strain out the solids from the liquid since leaving solids in the cold brew tea can accelerate bacterial growth. The cold brewed tea can be stored in the refrigerator, in an airtight container for 2 more days.
