This refreshing cold brew coffee sweetened with caramel is topped with a salted cold foam. It’s surprisingly easy to make it at home, even the cold foam.

Salted Caramel Cold Brew
This salted caramel cold brew is based on a Starbucks drink that is no longer available since they changed the recipe. It’s made with ice, cold brew coffee, caramel sauce, and a lightly salted cold foam. It’s sweet and salty in one drink.
Note from Jee

I love cold brew and salted caramel so I knew I would love this drink from the start. The first sip is fluffy, lightly salted cold foam then as I keep drinking, the sweet caramel coffee.
I’ve made this drink with my homemade cold brew coffee and with store-bought bottled cold brew when I’m feeling lazy. Both have turned out delicious so feel free to use whatever cold brew you have.
Recipe Summary
- Store-bought or homemade cold brew can be used.
- Perfect cold foam is easily made at home using a French press. It’s flavored with vanilla and salt.
- The recipe makes a grande (16 ounces) drink.

Ingredient Notes

- Cold brew coffee: You can use store-bought or homemade cold brew. If you’re making your own, cold brew it the day before since it takes 12-15 hours.
- Caramel sauce: I always use store-bought caramel sauce since making it at home is a pain.
- Half & half: This is my shortcut to making cold foam. Half & half is half cream and half milk in one product.
- Vanilla syrup: Use store-bought or homemade vanilla syrup. This is added to the cold foam to sweeten and flavor.
- Salt: I always use sea salt and it’s only in the cold foam.
- Ice: If possible, use filtered water to make ice.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: To make the cold foam, combine half & half, vanilla syrup, and salt in a French press. Pump the French press plunger.

Step 2: Pour caramel sauce into a cup.

Step 3: Add cold brew and ice.

Step 4: Top drink with cold foam. Stir before drinking.
Expert Tips
- If you don’t have a French press, you can shake the cold foam ingredients together in a cocktail shaker or a jar with a tight lid but it’ll take a little bit more work.
- Another way to make cold foam at home is with an electric milk frother that has a cold setting or a handheld milk frother.
- If you don’t have cold brew, you can make strong hot coffee then cool it down but it won’t taste exactly the same as using cold brew.
