Starbucks Iced Latte

Starbucks Iced Latte is an unsweetened, caffeinated drink made with their signature dark roast espresso, ice, and milk.

All lattes are made with espresso and in a grande size drink, there are 2 espresso shots. Out of all espresso-based drinks, lattes are made with the most milk.

Note from Jee

I’ve found that the easiest way to make Starbucks drinks at home is with a Nespresso machine. Each Nespresso capsule is equal to 1 shot of espresso.

For this grande drink that’s made with 2 espresso shots at Starbucks, you’ll need 2 Nespresso capsules. I’ve made this drink many times with just 1 capsule and it still tastes great, so free feel to adjust the number of capsules as you like.

Recipe Summary

  • This copycat drink recreates the Starbucks Iced Latte using the same recipe Starbucks uses.
  • A latte has to be made with espresso, so you’ll need an espresso machine or a Nespresso. I also give instructions on how to make it with instant coffee if that’s what you have.
  • The recipe makes a grande (16 ounces) Iced Latte.

  • Espresso: Use Starbucks Espresso Roast coffee beans or Nespresso Starbucks espresso capsules to get the flavor close to theirs.

For full ingredients and detailed instructions, please see the recipe card at the bottom of the post.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Put espresso into a cup.

Step 2: Add milk. Top with ice.

Expert Tips

  • To sweeten iced drinks, always use simple syrup, which will mix into the drink so much easier than regular sugar.
  • If you don’t have an espresso machine or a Nespresso, you can use instant coffee. Combine 1 tablespoon of instant coffee and ¼ cup of hot water to replace the 2 shots of espresso in the recipe.
  • Customize this drink with homemade cold foam for a decadent touch.
