Fauchon

Established as a luxury food company in Paris, Fauchon had a restaurant in New York City about 20 years ago. They reopened in late 2025, across the street from Bryant Park.

It’s a full-service restaurant and I was happy to see they had ‘Teatime’ on their menu, which is a French version of afternoon tea. It’s essentially the same thing, but no scones.

Note from Jee

This new addition to my list of afternoon teas in NYC is starting off strong, landing a spot in my top 10!

Fauchon have have their own branded food, including tea. I remember the shop they used to have in NYC and visited it once or twice before they closed, although I never had afternoon tea there and am not sure if they even served it.

Reservations

You can probably walk-in and see if they can accommodate, but it’s never a guarantee. It’s always a good idea to make reservations.

Dress Code

It’s a cafe/restaurant so there isn’t a dress code, but I would go with smart casual at the minimum. You can wear jeans and sneakers.

Afternoon Tea Hours

Tea time is served everyday starting at 1PM.

How Afternoon Tea Works at Fauchon NYC

This is a French version of afternoon tea so it’s called ‘Teatime’ on the menu and they don’t serve scones.

Each teatime is per person and they state on the menu that it’s not for sharing. Select a tea or coffee. They have a list of recommended teas but you can pick anything from the tea selection at the bottom of the menu page. The food consisting of mini tea sandwiches and mini pastries are all included in the set menu so you don’t have to select anything.

The tea or coffee will come out first, then a 3-tiered tray with tea sandwiches on the bottom, and sweets on the top 2 tiers. Eat the savories first, then the sweets.

If you want more tea, you can ask for more hot water to be added to your teapot.

Teatime Menu

Teatime
$60 per person

Kids Teatime

The menu and prices may change at any time.

Setting: ★★★★☆

The space is bright and airy, but some of the tables are a little too close together. It’s a restaurant so the dining room isn’t devoted just for afternoon tea. The person next to you is probably getting lunch.

There’s something missing with the decor, in that the space feels temporary.

Service: ★★★★☆

Service was fine. They were friendly but the staff seemed like they started a couple of days ago.

Tea & Tea Selection: ★★★☆☆

They serve their tea in tea sachets, which I’m not such a fan of. I wish they served loose tea. There are 9 teas on the tea menu and most were blends. (I like seeing more single origin.) The tea menu is very limited.

Savories: ★★★★★

For $60, I was blown away by the tea sandwiches. The warm Croque Madame with a runny egg was definitely my favorite. I didn’t love the cucumber on though since it was only filled halfway with hummus.

Delicious and loved the attention to detail. I haven’t seen this much effort put into tea sandwiches on a $60 afternoon tea. It was more food than I expected too.

Scones: N/A

This is a French version of afternoon tea, so no scones.

Sweets: ★★★★☆

I really thought I would love the sweets more than the savories since Fauchon is known for their pastries. It was a mix of hit and miss. Most of the sweets were good, but not amazing, except for the canele, which was excellent. I did find the eclairs a bit stale.

Overall: ★★★★☆

At $60 per person, this is an amazing value. Man, I hope saying how good it is for the price doesn’t raise it. I rated this on a curve, taking the price into consideration.
