The Frick Collection, an art museum in New York City, offers afternoon tea in their cafe. See my review of the service, food, and the tea.

The Frick Collection Cafe
The Frick is one of my favorite museums in New York City. The mansion was owned by Henry Clay Frick and it was converted into a museum to share his art collection with the public.
The museum admission is a steep $30 per person but on Wednesdays from 1:30 to 5:30, they have a “Pay-What-You-Wish Admission” that starts at $5.
The cafe is called Westmoreland and it’s on the second floor of the museum.
Note from Jee

I’ve gone to the Frick for years and this was my first time back after the renovation. Of course I had to go once they announced they had afternoon tea.
I did notice that you didn’t need to pay for the museum admission if you’re just going to the museum cafe, but I was glad I did pay since I did want to see the rest of the museum.
The museum used to be a bit of a hidden gem in that not many people used to go, but the day I went, it was PACKED, including the cafe.
Reservations
I did same-day reservations for the cafe. You can also make reservations online on Resy. I highly recommend making reservations ahead of time since the cafe was very busy.
Dress Code
No dress code since it’s a museum cafe.
Afternoon Tea Hours
Afternoon tea is served everyday, except Tuesday when the museum is closed, starting at 1PM. The museum closes at 5:30PM so be aware not to make too late of a reservation.
How Afternoon Tea Works at The Frick
There’s just one afternoon tea served so the only thing you need to select is the tea. There are just 6 teas to pick from. The rest of the food listed on the menu will arrive on a 3-tiered stand.
The tea will come out first, then the food. Eat the savories first, then the scones with clotted cream and jam, then the sweets.
The Frick Afternoon Tea Menu
Afternoon Tea
$65 per person
A pot of tea, 5 tea sandwiches, 1 scone, and 2 sweets.
The menu and prices may change at any time.
Setting: ★★★★☆

The cafe is cozy, pretty, and much nicer in feel than a lot of other museum cafes. They really jammed a ton of tables into the space though since it does feel a little tight. It feels very Upper East Side.
Service: ★★★★★
Great service. Friendly and attentive. I never had to wait for long to ask for more hot water for the tea or for the check.
Tea & Tea Selection: ★★★☆☆

They serve tea from Harney & Sons and there was 1 tea sachet in each teapot. The selection of teas is very limited with just 6 teas. I loved the teaware.
Savories: ★★★☆☆

The savories were just ok. They didn’t really have a lot of flavor. I did like the presentation though.
Scones: ★★★★☆

The top tier had the scones and sweets. (This was for 2 people so we got 1 of each shown.) The scone was served with butter, clotted cream, and apricot jam. The scone was good but not really shaped like a scone (too flat) since it didn’t break off easily in the middle.
Sweets: ★★☆☆☆
Whenever I see macarons, I know they phoned in the sweets and I was right. There are just 2 pastries and I did like the mini banoffee pie even though I didn’t like the macaron.
Overall: ★★★☆☆
It looks cute, but would I go back for it? Probably not. At $65 per person, it’s a little overpriced for what you’re getting.
