Homemade Iced Vanilla Latte

Starbucks Iced Vanilla Latte is a cold coffee drink made with Starbucks’ signature dark espresso, ice, 2% milk, and vanilla syrup. It’s a basic iced latte with vanilla syrup.

For a drink to be a latte, it needs to be made with espresso. You can use strong coffee, instant coffee, or cold brew but it won’t have the same taste as using espresso.

Note from Jee

Between the Starbucks Nespresso espresso capsule and blonde espresso capsule, I 100% like the blonde espresso capsules more. And it turns out I’m not the only one since the blonde espresso roast is way more popular and better reviewed.

Blonde espresso is a mellower, smoother, and more caffeinated version of espresso. I now only use the blonde espresso capsules to make all my Starbucks copycat drinks at home.

Recipe Summary

  • This homemade Starbucks Iced Vanilla Latte is made the same way as Starbucks does with 4 ingredients.
  • A latte can only be made with espresso so you’ll need a Nespresso or espresso machine.
  • The recipe makes a grande (16 ounces) Iced Vanilla Latte.

Ingredient Notes

Ingredients to make an iced latte.
  • Espresso: Starbucks makes this drink with their signature dark espresso. Use Nespresso Starbucks espresso capsules so that the drink tastes as close to theirs as possible.
  • Vanilla syrup: Use store-bought or homemade vanilla syrup. You can also buy vanilla syrup from Starbucks locations. Ask at the register if they have any extra vanilla syrup in stock to sell you. If they do, it’ll cost around $25.
  • Milk: Starbucks makes all their lattes with 2% milk but you can use any kind of milk you like.
  • Ice: Use filtered water to make ice if possible.

For full ingredients and detailed instructions, please see the recipe card at the bottom of the post.

Expert Tips

  • Instant coffee can be used if you don’t have espresso. Combine 1 tablespoon of instant coffee and ¼ cup of hot water to replace the 2 shots of espresso in the recipe. It won’t quite taste the same though.
  • The recipe uses 2 espresso capsules but feel free to adjust with 1 or even 3 capsules, depending on how strong you want the coffee flavor.
  • Customize the drink by topping the drink with cold foam!
