Tea Sommelier’s Matcha Tips
The brighter the color, the higher the quality. If you’re looking for high quality matcha, make sure to get one that’s a bright, vivid green. It’ll likely be more expensive than lower quality matcha that does not have as strong of a green color.
You don’t always need to get the most expensive matcha. If you plan on mixing the matcha into a drink or use it for baking, there’s no need to get the priciest option. The brightest green matcha within the $30-$50 range works perfectly in lattes and desserts.

Note from Jee
Matcha usually costs more than other types of tea since there’s a lot more work involved to make it and now with the worldwide matcha shortage, the prices are only going up.
I used to recommend matcha in the $20-$30 range for making matcha lattes, but now, the same matcha is more like $30-$50. Here is where I buy my matcha from.
