Homemade Strawberry Lemonade
Strawberry lemonade is a fruity caffeine-free drink. Packed with flavor, this homemade recipe is made with fresh strawberries, lemon juice, sugar, and water.
Deliciously sweet and tart, the sweetness of the strawberries tones down the sourness of the lemon juice. The fresh strawberries give it a natural red color.
Serve this lemonade at baby showers, picnics, parties, or whenever you’re craving a cool drink.
Note from Jee

This is a great recipe during strawberry season when the berries are at their sweetest and freshest. But you can make it any time of the year by using frozen strawberries. It’ll just take a few seconds longer in the blender.
In one of the earlier recipe tests, I didn’t strain the strawberries, which made the drink not a clear liquid, but it did taste delicious. If you want to have some fiber in the drink, you can certainly skip the part in the recipe about straining the strawberries.
Recipe Summary
- The drink takes just 3 minutes to make from start to finish.
- Quick and easy, the ingredients are mixed in a blender then strained, so the drink is smooth and clear.
- This recipe yields 16 ounces, or 2 cups, of strawberry lemonade. To make a bigger batch, you can easily double or triple the ingredients.

Ingredient Notes

- Strawberries: Use fresh, ripe strawberries. Pick ones that are bright red and plump. You can use frozen strawberries but you’ll just need to blend it a little longer.
- Lemon juice: Fresh lemon juice will taste better than the bottled kind. Choose lemons that are heavy for their size.
- Sugar: White granulated sugar is used to make simple syrup, which sweetens the drink.
- Water: Filtered water will make the best tasting drink.
- Ice: Use filtered water to make ice too, if possible.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Make a quick simple syrup by adding sugar to hot water and stirring until dissolved.

Step 2: In a blender, add simple syrup, cold water, lemon juice, and strawberries. Blend at low speed.

Step 3: Strain the strawberry juice through a mesh strainer.

Step 4: Pour strawberry lemonade into a cup with ice and drink right away.
Recipe Notes
Use juice from fresh lemons.
Bottled juice might be more convenient, but it doesn’t have the best flavor. Always use juice from fresh lemons instead. A citrus juicer will make squeezing lemons easy and quick.
Adjust the ratio of juices.
Add extra strawberries for a stronger strawberry taste. If you want a more intense lemonade flavor, add a bit more lemon juice.
Prepare the lemonade in advance.
Strawberry lemonade will last in the fridge for up to 3 days. Store it without ice so the drink doesn’t get watery.
Expert Tips
- For a stronger strawberry flavor, replace the simple syrup with strawberry simple syrup.
- Use other sweeteners, like lavender simple syrup or hibiscus simple syrup, for a different flavor profile.
- The ice will quickly melt and dilute the drink, so be sure to enjoy it right away.
- Garnish the strawberry lemonade with a lemon slice or fresh strawberry.
